Poems

James 1:27

Flooding is taking over.

Where is their relief?

People living in the mud,

drowning in their sleep.

With rain pouring all around,

seeping through the roof,

they find comfort in the ground

like uncovered wounds.

Widows cry just like the rain,

face turned to the dirt.

Alone with all their orphans;

can’t afford a shirt.

Listen to them mourn at night,

hunger pains their soul.

With each struggling breath they fight,

satin finds more toil.

Lurking around the darkness,

pushing down their joy,

the enemy’s found puppets

to treat like his toy.

People in their desperate need

will do what they can.

Family’s hungry, find the feed,

stick to satin’s plan.

It comes in different colors;

survival’s in hand.

Care only for their mothers

which destroys this land.

Rain is pouring all around.

Where is their relief?

One day we will hear no sound.

No sound in the street.
